The Bell Rock formation has been featured in many Western movies and commercials.
The rocks provide contrast to endlessly fascinating desert skies.
In this image note the variation of colors along the horizon.
037 - Cloudcrawl over Sedona
006 - Conference of the Gods
This was shot deep in the Louisiana swamp country.
The cloud formations change rapidly - brought in from the Gulf of Mexico by
the heat, humidity and flat country.
I had only moments to stop the car in the middle of the road, jump out and
shoot the 3 bearded gentlemen in the sky.
Seconds later it was just another group of clouds...Click on the image to see this

009 - Nature's Pure Gift
The title says it all.
This was shot near Sedona, Arizona.
010 - Desert Cloud Dance
(also kown as Lost Horizon)
This was shot near Powell Butte, Oregon.
The uniform distribution of the clouds - from horizon to horizon - caught
my eye.
The odd angle was suggested by leaning into the climb up the slope of the
butte - accentuating the horizon at the lower left.
012 - Morning Glories
This image is reminiscent of a Maxfield Parrish painting; it was shot
traveling at sunrise along the Mississippi gulf coast.
017 - Bayou Sundown
A magnificent sunset deep in Louisiana.
032 - Thunderfire
This was shot in Lakeview, Oregon.
It was a hot July day; the storm clouds had been building all day.
Lightning was travelling from cloud-to-cloud just as the sun was setting.
The combination flared the adjoining clouds to violets, oranges and their
shadows.

028 - Rainbow Goddess
The lighter area surrounded by the rainclouds appeared to be a woman's
head gently blowing the rain and rainbow onto the land.

036 - Looming Mooncloud
The moon is peeking out from behind a brilliant cumulus cloud which echoed
the dome of the treetops.
This was shot near Ashland, Oregon.
